Emotion Code Sessions in Perth
A gentle, structured way to explore and release emotional energy that may still be connected to past experiences.
Exploring emotional patterns
Sometimes we know exactly why we feel the way we do.
And sometimes we don’t.
You might notice that you react strongly to certain situations, keep falling into the same emotional patterns, feel unusually affected by something that happened years ago, or simply have a sense that there is something you haven’t quite been able to shift.
The Emotion Code® is an energy-based technique developed by Dr Bradley Nelson. It uses muscle testing and a structured process to identify what the Emotion Code refers to as “trapped emotions” — emotional energies associated with past experiences that may still be influencing the way you feel or respond today.
Sometimes, when you think about a past event, you can notice the emotion returning almost as though part of you is right back there in the moment.
And one of the things I particularly like about the process is that you don’t necessarily need to consciously know what the issue is — or spend the session telling me any of your history or going back to that emotion — in order for us to work with it.
Ready to explore what may be sitting underneath the pattern?
What is a “trapped emotion”?
We all experience emotions such as sadness, fear, anger, grief, frustration, rejection and insecurity.
Usually an emotion arises, we experience it, and it passes.
Within the Emotion Code model, however, an emotion can sometimes remain energetically associated with the body rather than being completely processed and released. These are referred to as trapped emotions.
The Emotion Code provides a systematic way of identifying these emotional energies and releasing them.
Sometimes the emotion relates to an experience you remember clearly.
Sometimes we identify approximately when it occurred and you immediately know exactly what was happening in your life.
Sometimes there is no obvious conscious connection at all.
And importantly, we don’t need to force one.
If you’ve experienced kinesiology before, this may feel familiar
If you have previously worked with a kinesiologist, one part of an Emotion Code session will probably be quite familiar: muscle testing.
Muscle testing — sometimes called applied kinesiology — uses the body’s muscular response as a form of yes/no feedback.
Rather than relying entirely on the conscious mind to decide what needs to be addressed, the Emotion Code uses muscle testing to work through a very specific sequence of questions.
For example, we may establish:
- whether there is an emotion ready to be released;
- where it sits on the Emotion Code Chart;
- which particular emotion it is;
- whether more information about it is required;
- approximately when it became trapped;
- whether it is associated with a particular experience;
- whether it was absorbed from somebody else; or
- within the Emotion Code framework, whether it is considered an inherited emotion.
So while there is some crossover with kinesiology through the use of muscle testing, the Emotion Code is its own structured modality with its own protocol.
What actually happens during an Emotion Code session?
The process itself is surprisingly straightforward.
1. We decide what you would like to explore
You might have a particular emotional pattern, situation or area of your life you would like to work with.
Or you may simply be curious about what comes up.
You do not need to arrive with the “right” issue or have everything figured out beforehand.
2. I use muscle testing
Using the Emotion Code protocol, we use muscle testing to ask a series of yes/no questions and progressively narrow down the information.
The Emotion Code Chart contains 60 emotions arranged into categories. Muscle testing allows us to work systematically through the chart rather than trying to consciously guess what an emotion might be.
3. We identify the emotion
Once an emotion has been identified, we check whether we need any further information about it before releasing it.
Sometimes very little information is needed.
At other times we might identify an approximate age or life event associated with it.
There is no requirement to relive an experience however, you are always welcome to discuss anything you are noticing or would like to mention.
4. The emotion is released
The Emotion Code method uses magnetic energy passed along the Governing Meridian — an energy pathway recognised within traditional Chinese medicine — as its release technique.
A magnet is passed along this pathway according to the Emotion Code protocol, with the intention of releasing the identified emotional energy.
5. We check again
Once the release process has been completed, I muscle test again to check whether that particular emotion has cleared and whether there is anything further ready to be addressed.
Then we continue from there.
Would you like to experience the process for yourself?
Do I have to talk about everything that has happened to me?
No.
And for some people, that is one of the most appealing parts of this work.
There may certainly be moments when you recognise an emotion or an age and want to talk about what happened. That can be useful.
But you don't need to give me your entire history, justify how you feel or repeatedly revisit painful memories for an Emotion Code session to proceed.
Sometimes your conscious mind knows the story.
Sometimes it doesn't.
Either is completely okay.
What can I use an Emotion Code session for?
People are often drawn to this kind of work when they notice things such as:
- recurring emotional reactions;
- feeling stuck around a particular situation;
- old experiences that still seem emotionally charged;
- stress or overwhelm;
- difficulty moving on from something;
- relationship patterns;
- fears or emotional responses that seem disproportionate to the present situation;
- feeling emotionally blocked;
- or simply the sense that something from the past is still affecting the present.
You also don’t need to wait until something is “wrong.”
Sometimes people are simply curious about what they may still be carrying and enjoy doing the work as part of their own personal growth.
What is a Heart-Wall®?
You may come across the term Heart-Wall when reading about the Emotion Code.
Within the Emotion Code model, a Heart-Wall describes trapped emotional energies that the subconscious is believed to have gathered around the heart as a form of emotional protection during difficult experiences.
It isn't a physical wall or an anatomical structure.
The Emotion Code process uses muscle testing to determine whether a Heart-Wall is present and, if so, identifies and releases the emotions associated with it progressively.
This may happen over more than one session rather than all at once.
How is this different from counselling or psychology?
Emotion Code is not psychotherapy and an Emotion Code session doesn't involve diagnosing or treating a mental health condition.
It is a complementary, energy-based modality.
My own work has always been interested in what happens underneath the conscious story — the patterns, learned responses and processes that can continue operating even when intellectually we understand something perfectly well.
That is part of what attracted me to the Emotion Code.
It gives us another way of exploring what may be sitting outside ordinary conscious awareness, using a clear and repeatable process rather than endlessly analysing the problem.
How I work
My background includes NLP, Time Line Therapy®, hypnosis, Emotion Code work and mind-body and nervous-system-based approaches.
However when I am using the Emotion Code, I use its specific protocol rather than trying to turn it into three modalities at once.
We follow what comes up.
We don’t force an answer.
We don’t go hunting for trauma.
And we don’t need to make something dramatic in order for a session to be worthwhile.
Sometimes the most interesting changes are much quieter than that.
What might I notice afterwards?
Everyone responds differently.
Some people report an immediate feeling of lightness or notice that the emotional charge around something has changed.
For others, the change is subtle and becomes apparent later — perhaps when they encounter a situation that would normally have triggered the old response and realise they are reacting differently.
And sometimes there is no obvious change after a particular release.
There is no guaranteed response or predetermined outcome from an Emotion Code session.
How many sessions will I need?
There isn't a set number.
You may want to explore one particular issue and have a single session.
You may discover several layers you would like to continue working through.
Or you may simply book another session when there is something new you would like to explore.
There is no requirement to commit to a long treatment plan.
Emotion Code and the subconscious mind
Perhaps the simplest way to understand why people who have experienced kinesiology often feel at home with the Emotion Code is this:
we are not asking your conscious mind to have all the answers.
Your conscious mind is extraordinary — but it is also the part of you that analyses, reasons, questions, remembers selectively and sometimes says:
I know I shouldn't feel like this anymore… so why do I?
Emotion Code gives us another way of asking the question.
And sometimes the answer that emerges is rather interesting.
Curious about trying it?
If you've used kinesiology before, are already comfortable with mind-body approaches, or you're simply intrigued by the idea of exploring emotional patterns in a different way, an Emotion Code session can be a lovely place to begin.
You don't need to know what will come up.
You don't need to have the perfect explanation.
And you don't need to arrive ready to tell me your life story. I actually start all my sessions no matter which modality a client would like to explore by asking- What would you like?
We simply start with what you would like to experience, use the process, and see what your system gives us to work with.
A note about Emotion Code
The Emotion Code® is a complementary energy-based modality developed by Dr Bradley Nelson and Discover Healing. Concepts such as trapped emotions, inherited trapped emotions and the Heart-Wall® are part of the Emotion Code framework. Emotion Code sessions are not a substitute for medical, psychological or other appropriately qualified healthcare, and individual experiences and outcomes vary.
